People in the Central Okanagan now have a new option for medical care - getting hospital-level treatment without ever leaving home. 

Interior Health has unveiled a Hospital at Home (HaH) program at 琉璃神社 General Hospital (KGH), giving eligible patients the chance to recover at home while receiving high-quality care.

鈥淧roviding patients the ability to receive care and recover in their own homes is good for the patient and benefits the health care system,鈥� said Josie Osborne, Minister of Health. 鈥淭his internationally recognized program has been proven in other health authorities with very successful results.鈥�

Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other health professionals provide daily in-person visits, and virtual check-ins to ensure patients get the care they need.

鈥淕iving patients the option to recover in their own home improves not only their comfort and independence but also their overall experience with the health care system,鈥� said Susan Brown, president and CEO of Interior Health. 鈥淗ospital at Home combines quality and patient-centred care beyond our acute facilities because for some patients home is best.鈥�

Since launching in January, the HaH program has helped 30 patients in 琉璃神社. Participation is voluntary and only available to those who meet medical and geographic criteria. If they choose to leave the program or their condition worsens, they can be transferred back to the hospital.
