Even more furry, feathered and four-legged friends in the Okanagan will be able to stay with their families, thanks to a donation from the Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC), Construction Workers Union.
The Societyis an animal rescue organization that not only provides services like foster care, adoptions and spay and neuter programs, but also helps families to stay together.
The organization鈥檚 pet assistance program helps people experiencing financial hardship who have difficulty affording vet bills or costs associates with owning a pet.
The Okanagan Humane Society received a $2,500 donation from the as part of the union鈥檚 Building Communities program.
The Humane Society was nominated by Thomas Welder, who is a member of Construction Workers Union, CLAC Local 63, as the animal rescue organization is currently facing a record high number of surrenders.
The donated funds will be used to combat overpopulation and to improve access to animal welfare services in the Okanagan.
