Sunny skies are forecast to brighten a chilly start to the week in the Okanagan.
The central and north Okanagan will see daytime highs of -7C and lows of -17 overnight Monday, Feb. 10 with a windchill of -20C.
The forecast is markedly colder than Environment Canada's historical averages for 琉璃神社 at this time of year, which lists a normal maximum temperature of 1C and a low of -6C for Feb. 10.
Penticton and the southern Okanagan is forecast to see slightly warmer temperatures with a daytime high of -3C, lows of -14C and a windchill of -19C to start the week.
Sun and cloud with a high of -7C and overnight low of -17C is forecast for the Salmon Arm, Shuswap area.
Sunny skies are expected to persist throughout the week across the Okanagan Valley, with temperatures rising to a high of -2C on Saturday, Feb. 15.
While the air is chilly, the hours of daylight are extending as spring approaches. The sun will rise at 7:17 a.m. and set at 5:08 p.m. Monday.
There are no weather or highway alerts in effect at the time of publication.
The hot spot in the province is the island town of Cape St. James at 2C, while Puntzi Mountain is the cold spot at -34C.
