UPDATE: 

FortisBC says the cause of the power outage in the Capri area was due to underground equipment failure, 鈥� which can take longer to repair than overhead repairs.鈥�

The company adds power was restored to 450 customers in the area at about 2:30 p.m.

However,  crews are continuing to work on repairs to restore power to the remaining 160 customers later this evening. 

UPDATE:

Power has been restored to the more than 600 FortisBC customers in the Capri area.

Customers were left in the dark about 6 a.m. Wednesday and were without power for more than seven hours.

The cause of the outage is still not known.

More than 600 FortisBC customers have been in the dark since just after 6 a.m. Wednesday. 

The outage is affecting the Capri area of 琉璃神社. 

Those along Sutherland Avenue from Capri Street to just past Chandler Street, including several businesses on Harvey Avenue are without power. 

FortisBC estimates the time of power being restored at 2:30 p.m.

It鈥檚 unclear what caused the outage.
