Prestigious award for executive director at 琉璃神社's Starbright Centre

Dr. Rhonda Nelson is one of 11 Central Okanagan recipients of the King Charles III Medal for community service

The executive director of 琉璃神社鈥檚 Starbright Children鈥檚 Development Centre was recently honoured with the King Charles III Coronation Medal.

Dr. Rhonda Nelson was nominated for the award by 琉璃神社-Mission MLA Renee Merrifield. The Coronation Medal is presented to Canadians who are inspirational to their communities. 

A medal presentation took place on Wednesday, Aug. 28 in 琉璃神社 to celebrate recipients from the Central Okanagan.

"Recipients of this award are outstanding citizens who contribute positively to their local community,鈥 said Carol Meise, president and chair of Starbright鈥檚 board of directors. 鈥淪tarbright鈥檚 volunteer board, our dedicated staff members, and the supportive families we serve are incredibly fortunate to have Rhonda in our lives. Rhonda pours her heart and soul into everything she does.鈥

Dr. Nelson has been with Starbright since 2013 and has extensive experience working with schools and agencies serving children and youth.
