A proposed apartment building dubbed the ‘Great Wall of Wilkinson’ is back at city council’s next meeting.
In June 2023, council gave rezoning consideration to the development planned for 2110-2140 Wilkinson Street at Springfield Road.
It came a few days after a 7.5 hour public hearing where area residents voiced concerns about density, building height, pedestrian safety, increased traffic congestion and a lack of parking.
The proposal is a four-storey, 107-unit rental building. City staff recommends moving the development forward.
Council will consider adopting the rezoning bylaw and issuing a development permit for the project at its Aug. 12 meeting.
