Much of the Okanagan will see sporadic showers and cloudy skies throughout the work week, beginning on March 31, and the local amphibians think the forecast is toad-ally awesome.
Environment Canada Forecasts that the Okanagan will see showers with the potential for thunderstorms in the Central Okanagan on Monday, March 31. Throughout the week temperatures are expected to peak at 12 C and drop overnight. The skies are expected to clear on Friday, April 4, and remain sunny over the weekend.
While the rain and clouds in the forecast may not be beach weather, the conditions are perfect for mating frogs., including; the Columbia Spotted Frog, the Great Basin Spadefoot, the Pacific Chorus Frog, the Western Toad, and the invasive American Bullfrog.
Frogs typically mate in the early spring after the sun sets when the temperature is just above 7 C and the conditions are rainy.
Keep your ears open for a croak and a "ribbit" and your eyes peeled for frogs and their eggs around ponds throughout the wet and mild week.
