The wheels have started to turn on building new recreational facilities in 琉璃神社.

The city has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for architectural design services, to be followed by general contracting for construction services, to submit qualifications for selection into an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) approach for the centres.

This includes the redevelopment of the Parkinson Recreation Centre (PRC), construction of activities in the Glenmore and Mission neighbourhoods, enhancement of sports fields in Rutland, and opportunities with Okanagan College and UBC Okanagan (UBCO).

鈥淭he development of these new community, sport and wellness facilities in 琉璃神社 is a vital investment in the health and well-being of our community,鈥 said Derek Edstrom, partnerships and investments director for the city

The initial RFP will be followed by additional design and construction service bid opportunities.

Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2024.
