A 45-year-old man is in custody after what West 琉璃神社 RCMP hare calling a 鈥渄ynamic arrest鈥 involving police air and dog services, and several officers.
The incident started around 12 p.m. on March 10, when RCMP were alerted to a suspect vehicle heading south on Westside Road. The vehicle was linked to a possible theft of wire in the Vernon area. RCMP Air Services quickly located the vehicle and relayed updates to officers on the ground, who tried to stop the vehicle. However, the driver sped off toward the Rose Valley area in West 琉璃神社.
The chase came to an end on Olympus Way, where the suspect ditched the vehicle and made a run for it. However, Police Service Dog Mysan and his handler tracked him down almost immediately, leading to his quick arrest.
The suspect sustained minor injuries and remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 11.
