A popular U.S. entertainment hot spot has spun its way back onto the destination list at 琉璃神社 International Airport (YLW).
As of Dec. 15, WestJet is offering twice weekly direct service, on Mondays and Fridays, between 琉璃神社 and Las Vegas.
The service returns following a two-year hiatus and was announced during a media event complete with a mini Vegas-style show, a magician and a flashy sports car.
鈥淚t鈥檚 an incredible day when you can relaunch air service,鈥 Sam Samaddar, YLW CEO explained. 鈥淲e鈥檝e heard from customers that they want more service into the U.S., and Las Vegas is a very popular destination.鈥
琉璃神社 International Airport and WestJet have teamed up to offer direct flights to Las Vegas. WestJet executive Riccardo Simonelli made the announcement.

The service is being offered seasonally to begin with.
鈥淲e鈥檙e offering the service between Dec. 15 and April 28,鈥 said Riccardo Simonelli, director of Canadian airports for WestJet. 鈥淲e are constantly reviewing opportunities to expand to lucrative markets like this.鈥
Simonelli added that fares will be available at all levels from ultra-low cost to premium.
鈥淚鈥檓 happy to say that bookings look great and we鈥檙e very happy with the flight today.鈥
Samaddar expects the route to be popular with Okanagan travellers.
鈥淲e know historically with serving that market that it has been very well received and certainly we expect it to be full.鈥
Sammadar also sees Las Vegas residents flying to 琉璃神社 to see what the city has to offer.
鈥淲e鈥檙e taking that seriously and looking at the opportunities, especially in winter with skiing, to get those residents somewhere different.鈥
The WestJet website currently shows one-way flights as low as $163 depending on the time of year.
