UPDATE 3:20 p.m.:
A crash that caused considerable delays for those travelling south of Vernon has been cleared.
A van hit the centre meridian with such force that it moved the concrete object into oncoming traffic.
Highway 97 was limited to single-lane traffic in both directions while the meridian was moved back and the van towed from the scene.
ORIGINAL 1:20 p.m.:
A motor vehicle incident is causing delays on Highway 97 in Vernon.
According to a reporter on scene, traffic is backed up near the Greater Vernon Disposal Facility, in both directions on Highway 97.
The highway is down to a single lane in both directions.
A van crashed into a median on the highway, pushing it into the northbound lane.
There is also a semi-truck stalled on the southbound lane.
An ambulance is currently on scene.
