Vernon fire crews make short jaunt to battle house blaze

House fire triggers just a few doors down from a Vernon Fire Rescue Services station

Vernon Fire Rescue Services took on a house fire in the Okanagan Landing neighbourhood Saturday evening, March 29.

Crews were dispatched to a home in the 7300 block of Okanagan Landing Road at around 7 p.m. The blaze was just a couple of doors down from VFRS Station 2 Fire Hall.

On arrival crews could see smoke coming from the top level of the home, which contained at least two vehicles in its driveway.

Firefighters were still on-scene shortly after 8 p.m. Two trucks responded to the incident.

There is no word yet on cause, damage, or if anybody was in the home at the time of the fire.
