In an effort to target criminal behaviour in Rutland, the 琉璃神社 RCMP鈥檚 Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) executed a successful one-day project recently.
On Monday, April 21, officers disrupted criminal activity and identified other potential future projects near Highway 33 and Dougall Road.
As a result of the project, the RCMP arrested seven individuals for drug-related charges and seized:
- Numerous weapons including two pairs of brass knuckles and a taser;
- 100+ grams of drugs including fentanyl, crystal meth, cocaine and psilocybin;
- 19 cartons of illicit tobacco;
- Over $1000 in cash.
鈥淭his project was a significant success, reflecting the dedication and coordination of the Crime Reduction Unit,鈥 said CRU's Sgt. Scott Powrie. 鈥淲e will continue to relentlessly target individuals involved in the drug trade, disrupting their operations and removing dangerous substances from our streets. The success of this initiative lays a strong foundation for future, more in-depth projects aimed at dismantling organized criminal networks and improving community safety.鈥
