Yard waste pick-up returns to Central Okanagan Regional District residents on March 1.
鈥淣ow is the time to check your yard waste cart and remove anything that doesn鈥檛 belong that may have landed in there by mistake over the winter months,鈥 says Cynthia Coates, solid waste services supervisor.
鈥淧lastics, flowerpots, garbage, bags of any kind, pet waste, rocks, sod, recycling, and anything that could damage equipment or compromise the composting process need to be removed.鈥
Residents are reminded to put yard waste carts out by 7 a.m. on regular garbage days.
The following items are accepted in yard waste carts:
- Leaves, tree needles;
- Branches, prunings - up to 5 centimeters (2 inches) in diameter and less than one metre (3 feet) in length;
- Wood chips, bark;
- Garden plants;
- Fruit droppings;
- Grass clippings.
