Make it four wins in a row for the 琉璃神社 Rockets, who beat the Wenatchee Wild 4-0 on Friday, Oct. 18.
After a scoreless first period, Kayden Longley got the scoring started eight minutes into the second period with his first goal of the season, assisted by Jakub Stancl.
At the 15:12 mark of the frame, Tij Iginla dangled around the Wild players while shorthanded, putting home his fifth goal this year to make it 2-0.
Less than two minutes later, Rockets rookie Kalder Varga scored his first career WHL goal to make it 3-0.
It was a historic goal in the team's history as Kalder is the son of former Tacoma Rocket, John Varga, who played all four seasons the team spent in Tacoma from 1991-1995. He collected 333 points (154 goals, 179 assists) and 387 penalty minutes in 254 games as a Rocket.
Just a handful of games into the season, Varga is already the sixth Rocket this season to score his first career WHL goal.
The game remained 3-0 until late in the third period when Iginla added an empty net goal, his second of the game and sixth of the season.
Jari Kykkanen made 26 saves in the shutout win.
The Rockets will look to make it five wins in a row on Saturday when they take on the Tri-City Americans. Puck drop is at 6:05 p.m. at the Toyota Center.
