In the midst of a playoff run, the West 琉璃神社 Warriors have made a decision between the pipes, trading 2004-born goaltender Justin Katz on early Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors traded Katz to Powell River in exchange for future considerations.
鈥淎nytime you move a quality human like Justin, it is hard,鈥 said Warriors general manager and head coach Simon Ferguson, 鈥淛ustin has done an excellent job on the ice and in the community over the last two plus years. He asked for an opportunity to be given more starts elsewhere and he will be given that in Powell River. We wish him the best of luck.鈥
Katz has struggled this season but has also had inconsistent playing time. In seven appearances this season, he鈥檚 2-2-2 with a 3.11 GAA and a .897 save percentage.
Over the course of this three-year career with the Warriors, the Montreal, Quebec native has appeared in 52 games, owning a 26-15-2 record with a career 3.05 GAA and a .903 save percentage.
The Warriors welcome the Chilliwack Chiefs to Royal LePage Place on Saturday, Jan. 27 on Peachland night, in which the team will wear speciality Peachland jerseys. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
