The 琉璃神社 Chiefs had a flare of the dramatic as they brought their first-round KIJHL series to within one on Monday night in Rutland.
On Feb. 26, they won 2-1 in overtime over the Princeton Posse in game three of their first-round series.
After a scoreless first period, the Posse got out to a 1-0 lead late in the second period when Matthew Langdon scored a powerplay goal.
It remained that way until there were 44 seconds left in the third period, when Aiden Morcom scored his first goal of the playoffs, on the powerplay, to tie the game. Matt Saretsky collected the assist on the goal.
That forced overtime, where just 13 seconds into the first extra frame, Hunter O鈥橬eal scored to clinch the 2-1 win for the Chiefs. Matt Keylor assisted on the goal.
Brandon Smith made 28 saves in the win.
Despite the win, Princeton still leads the series 2-1. The Chiefs have a chance to tie the series at two apiece in game four on Tuesday night at Rutland Arena. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
