Hockey hasn鈥檛 been too friendly to the 琉璃神社 Rockets lately.
On Tuesday night (Nov. 14), the team lost their eighth game in a row, falling 5-3 to the Victoria Royals.
Early in the first period, Marek Rocak took advantage of an bouncing puck and found the back of the net, making it 1-0 琉璃神社.
But Victoria bounced back in the second half of the frame, scoring three times making it 3-1 after the first. In the period, the Rockets managed just four shots on goal.
The Royals continued their hit play when the puck dropped on the second period as they added two more goals in the first 2:27 of the frame to make it 5-1.
琉璃神社鈥檚 comeback fell short as Ethan Neutens and Tij Iginla scored to make it 5-3 but that鈥檚 as close as the Rockets would make it. Iginla鈥檚 goal was his team-leading 15th goal of the season.
Rockets goaltender Jari Kykkanen allowed all five Victoria goals before Jake Pilon came into the game, making 14 saves the rest of the way.
With the loss, the Rockets have now lost eight in a row, with their last win coming on Oct. 25. They are now 7-11-2-0 on the season, sitting ninth in the WHL鈥檚 Western Conference.
Maybe being back on home ice this Saturday, Nov. 18 will help the team but the competition doesn鈥檛 get any easier as they welcome the first place Prince George Cougars (14-5-0-0) to Prospera Place. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.
