It was a dominating start to the Toyota National Championships for Okanagan FC U-15 as they blanked Yellowknife YK Galaxy 5-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 9 in Quinte West, Ont.

Okanagan controlled play in the first half but weren't able to break through on the scoresheet.

But in the second half, they finally beat the goaltender, scoring five goals.

Kieron Boersma opened the scoring off a free kick about 30 yards out. He also scored again in quick succession to make it 2-0.

Toyosi Ilori made it 3-0 off of a cross from Noah Spada.

In a scramble in the box following a corner kick, Blake Gerding found the back of the net to make it 4-0.

Maximo Trozzo scored late to make it 5-0.

Aidan Carreon Sabatino earned the shutout win without facing a shot on net.

Okanagan will enjoy a day-off on Thursday before getting back on the pitch on Friday against Inter Halifax FC. The game kicks off at 7 a.m. Pacific time.
