Rockets look for first win, Warriors play Trail: 琉璃神社 sports weekend preview

All three hockey teams are in action this weekend

The 琉璃神社 Rockets are on the road in Spokane and Kennewick, WA on Oct. 4 and 5.

Football takes a break but hockey is in full swing for 琉璃神社 sports this weekend.

琉璃神社 Rockets

The Rockets head south of the border this weekend for two games, as the teams looks to get into the win column. After a 5-2 loss to Prince George on Wednesday night, the Rockets are 0-4 to start the season. 

On Friday, Oct. 4, the team is in Spokane to take on the Chiefs, who have been great to start the campaign as they are 3-1. The Rockets have scored nine goals and given up 18 while the Chiefs have scored 15 and have only allowed 10. Puck drop on Friday night is at 7:05 p.m.

The following night, 琉璃神社 heads to Kennewick, WA to take on the Tri-City Americans. Through three games, they are 1-1-1 with a minus three goal differential. Saturday night's game begins at 6:05 p.m.

West 琉璃神社 Warriors

As the calendar flips to October, the West 琉璃神社 Warriors are set for a home-and-home series against the Trail Smoke Eaters. 

The two teams meet at Cominco Arena in Trail on Friday night and Royal LePage Place on Saturday. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. both nights. Going into the weekend, the Warriors sit fourth in the BCHL's Interior West division with a 2-1-1 record while Trail sits atop the division at 3-1-1.

Saturday is the third annual Ladies Night at the Warriors game, where wine is 50 per cent off and the DJ will be playing Shania Twain and Taylor Swift.

Okanagan Sun

The Sun are on a bye-week as the British Columbia Football Conference's (BCFC) regular season comes to an end.

In their last game of the regular season last week, the Sun beat the Valley Huskers to complete a perfect 10-0 regular season and clinch home field advantage throughout the BCFC playoffs. They are back in action at the Apple Bowl on Saturday, Oct. 12.

琉璃神社 Chiefs

The Chiefs are home at Rutland Arena this weekend as they welcome the 100 Mile House Wranglers and Merritt Centennials to town.

100 Mile House is in town on Friday night for a 7 p.m. while Merritt is on Sunday, starting at 5 p.m. 琉璃神社 currently sits third in the Bill Ohlhausen Division with a 2-1 record. Merritt is at the bottom of the division with a 1-3-1 record so far this season. 100 Mile House is 1-3-0-1.
