Both the ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç Rockets and West ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç Warriors look to continue to stay hot this weekend.

ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç Rockets

Winners of 12 of their last 17 games, the ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç Rockets are going up north for two huge games this weekend.

The team is travelling up Highway 97 to take on the Prince George Cougars, who are first in the Western Conference with a record of 28-12-0-0.

With their hot play of late, the Rockets are sixth in the conference as they’ve produced a 19-17-2-0 record.

A big part of the Rockets’ recent success is forward Andrew Cristall. The Washington Capitals prospect has 40 points over a 19-game point streak. He’s fourth in WHL scoring with 68 points (24 goals, 44 assists) in just 32 games.

Additionally, Rockets captain Gabriel Szturc is on milestone watch. He goes into this weekend with 170 career WHL, just three behind Vaclav Varada for most points by a European-born player in Rockets franchise history.

Friday night’s puck drop is at 7 p.m. while Saturday night’s is at 6 p.m.

West ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç Warriors

The Warriors will be serving up home cooking all weekend long as they welcome the Cowichan Valley Capitals and the Merritt Centennials to town.

Since Nov. 22, the Warriors are 11-1-2 and sit second in the BCHL’s Interior Conference with a 21-7-4-0 record.

Saturday night’s contest is the first time Cowichan Valley has come to West ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç since January 2020. The Capitals are eighth in the Coastal Conference with a record of 9-19-1-1.

Puck drop on Jan. 13 is at 7 p.m.

And just a few hours later, the Warriors will drop the puck against the Centennials at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday as the Warriors host their annual Hockey Day in West K.

After the game, fans will get a chance to skate with the Warriors on the Royal LePage Place ice while anyone in attendance 18 and younger who wears a jersey will get into the game for free.

Sunday is the seventh meeting this season between the Warriors and Centennials. The Warriors are 4-2 against Merritt this season.
