It was a heartbreaking loss late in overtime for the West ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç Warriors against the Cranbrook Bucks on Friday night.
Throughout the game, it was a defensive battle. It wasn’t until late in the second period when Blake Cotton scored his 10th goal of the season for the Bucks to open the scoring.
At the 12:09 mark of the third period, Warriors’ forward Jack Pridham found the back of the net for the 15th time this year to tie the game 1-1.
The contest went to overtime, where with just 16 seconds left in the frame, Jacob Fletcher scored to give Cranbrook the win. It was his eighth goal of the season.
West ÁðÁ§ÉñÉç threw 40 shots at Cranbrook netminder Carter Capton, who stood on his head, making 39 saves in the win. Warriors goaltender Rorke Applebee made 23 saves in the loss.
The Warriors remain in second place in the Interior Conference with a record of 24-8-7-0. They will be back in action on Saturday night in Trail to take on the Smoke Eaters. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
