The annual Healthy Kids Day, inside and outside the , aims to show families how much fun activity can be.
鈥淎t the YMCA of Okanagan, we believe healthy children lay the foundations for a healthy community,鈥 says Sharon Peterson, CEO of the YMCA of Okanagan. 鈥淵et only nine per cent of Canadian kids between five and 17 years old are getting the recommended levels of daily exercise. Healthy Kids Day is fun, but at its core the event strives to inspire everyone to participate in the development of a thriving generation of children.鈥

From henna tattoos and seed planting to water balloon toss and 鈥榝untastic鈥 gymnastics, families have a full 53 activity stations to explore thanks to local community partners invested in kids鈥 health.

What you need to know:
Visit Healthy Kids Day, presented by Interior Savings Credit Union, from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 7 at the Enjoy an entertainment stage, prizes and a healthy barbecue from noon to 3 p.m., in addition to the activity stations. The free event includes access to the 琉璃神社 Family Y pool and facilities, and gives parents a chance to collect resources for their family鈥檚 health while kids discover new ways to play.
