A man was arrested but has since been released for a break and enter into a downtown 琉璃神社 building.
Around 4:22 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21st, the 琉璃神社 RCMP received a report of a break and enter in progress in the 400 block of Bernard Avenue.
Two people could be seen on security cameras, including one individual who was seen breaking the glass of the store, reaching in, stealing a few items, and fleeing on foot.
Multiple officers responded to the scene as quickly found one of the men that matched the description that was seen on the surveillance footage.
The man had the stolen items with their store tags and security labels on them. He was arrested and taken to the RCMP detachment where he was processed and released. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 25, 2024.
鈥淎s a result of this quick response by our frontline RCMP officers, this suspect was promptly arrested and the store鈥檚 property was returned,鈥 said 琉璃神社 RCMP media relations officers Cst. Mike Della-Paolera.
Additionally, the second suspect was also located but released pending further investigation.
The 琉璃神社 RCMP are continuing to investigate and are asking if anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash camera footage is to contact the RCMP at 250-762-3300 with the file 2023-74729.
