A 3.8-magnitude earthquake was felt in Greater Victoria on Feb. 13.

A 3.8-magnitude earthquake shook homes across Greater Victoria on Thursday (Feb. 13) evening.

The event occurred just before 10 p.m., 17 kilometres south-southeast of Victoria, according to Earthquakes Canada.

They report it was "lightly felt in Victoria, Sidney and across southern Vancouver Island."

On social media, locals reported feeling the quake in East Sooke, Langford, Saanich and up the Peninsula.

"I felt it in Gordon Head – couch shook and the windows vibrated and cracked," said one Facebook user.

"Thought it was a strong wind against the house until my earthquake app indicated Victoria was just hit with a earthquake," said a Colwood resident.

No damage has been reported, says Earthquakes Canada, and none are expected.
