Update: 4:34 p.m.
Penticton firefighters have knocked down a blaze in an abandoned home and are working on hot spots and venting the home. The power has been cut and all emergency crews remain on the scene. The water from the fire hoses may cause some icy conditions on that road tonight.

An abandoned house on Westminster Avenue East and Abbott Street is on fire Monday afternoon.
Around 4:10 p.m., firefighters were called to the two-storey home for smoke and flames coming out of the top floor.
Two engines are at the scene and firefighters were searching both floors to make sure no one was inside.
A neighbour told Black Press that the RCMP were at the home yesterday, (Sunday, Jan. 7) kicking out some squatters who were living there.
A second alarm was called for the blaze. RCMP and ambulance are also on scene.
The Western News will update the story when more information is available.
