A woman faces impaired driving charges after allegedly causing a rear end collision Wednesday afternoon on Pandosy Street.
The 琉璃神社 RCMP Municipal Traffic Section responded April 20 at 3:01 p.m., to a report of a three vehicle collision on Pandosy Street at Royal Avenue.
"Witnesses at the scene reported that a red Hyundai sedan, followed by a scooter, had both stopped in traffic for a lighted controlled pedestrian cross walk on Pandosy Street at Royal Avenue. A red Jeep Wrangler, however failed to stop in time and collided with the rear of the scooter which was subsequently pushed into the rear of the Hyundai," said Const. Jesse O'Donaghey, in a press release.
Given the location of the crash, the operator of the scooter, a 23-year-old 琉璃神社 woman, was taken to the nearby hospital for treatment of minor non-life threatening injuries.
鈥淒uring the officer鈥檚 interaction with the driver of the Jeep at the collision scene, they detected signs of possible alcohol intoxication. As a result a demand was made of the driver who provided samples of her breath roadside which resulted in a FAIL,鈥 said O鈥橠onaghey.
鈥淭he woman was subsequently taken to the 琉璃神社 RCMP Detachment for additional testing where she provided breath samples in excess of more than three times the legal limit."
The 45-year-old West 琉璃神社 woman faces potential charges of care and/or control of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, as well as care and/or control while over .08. She was later released from police custody and is expected to appear Court on July 18.
