Co-op customers went the extra mile recently by fuelling up, Fuelling Good and pumping up local non-profits.
On Sept. 17 the four gas bar locations of the Armstrong Regional Co-op participated in the annual Fuel Good Day initiative that sees 10 cents of every litre of gas and diesel sold going to a local organization for a total of $16,441, an increase over last year's $13,088.
"The Armstrong Regional Co-op is proud to give back and get behind local initiatives that are working to address the needs of our community," marketing and community relations manager Jason Keis said in a media release. "Thank you to our members and customers for the support you've shown during Co-op Fuel Good Day. Once again, it's amazing to see what we can accomplish when we all work together."
The Salmon Arm location topped the other three, raising $6,179 for the SAFE Society that supports victims of domestic violence. The Vernon gas bar was close behind that with $5,974 for the North Okanagan Neuroligical Society (NONA) that provides developmental services to local children.
Armstrong raised $2,545 for the local chapter of the Girl Guides of Canada, while the Cranbrook location donated $1,743 to the Kin Club.
Fuel Good Day is recognized by Co-op Gas Bars throughout B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and northwestern Ontario, with each location supporting a local organization. The total result from Western Canada will be available in early October on , with the complete list of beneficiaries.
