The Chase RCMP are asking for assistance in locating two men and a Subaru Crosstrek after an attempted theft and assault.

Chase RCMP are looking for a suspect vehicle and two men in relation to an attempted theft that led to assault.

On June 14 at 3:13 a.m., officers responded to an assault on Alymer Road where the victim explained that he had interrupted two men trying to steal fuel from a vehicle in his driveway.

"The victim then smashed out the back window of their getaway vehicle, so the fleeing occupants bear sprayed him," Const. Sarah Van Wilgenburg said in a media release. "The victim was not dressed for the occasion and required head-to-toe decontamination."

She added that he suffered no permanent injuries.

The interaction was recorded on surveillance video and has been posted to social media sites, including the suspect vehicle which appears to be a newer model Subaru Crosstrek SUV "with a smashed out back hatch window."

Anyone with possible information on this vehicle is asked to contact the Chase detachment at 250-679-3221.
