A dog has died after a house caught fire in West 琉璃神社 Wednesday evening.

The blaze started just after 6 p.m. and was witnesses say it was already fully involved when firefighters got to the home on Westside Road in Trader鈥檚 Cove.

Wilson Landing Fire chief Don Bennison said it was a stubborn fire, but that crews got the job done.

鈥淔lames were stubborn on the roof, but we kept putting water on it,鈥� said Bennison. 鈥淚t went out late, there weren鈥檛 any issues, and the investigation is getting going.鈥�

Bennison said that the resident鈥檚 pet dog may have been lost in the fire, and they won鈥檛 know the cause of the fire until the investigation is completed.

The home was largely destroyed by the blaze.

Large fire on the east side of Okanagan Lake, Wilsons Landing. Please stay clear of that area so the crews can access it.
