The Penticton Library and the Penticton Museum and Archives are closed Tuesday, Jan. 16, due to a flood.
Crews are working to repair the problem as quickly as possible and updates on when the facility will reopen will be shared as available, said the city of Penticton.
The Museum鈥檚 brown bag lectures at noon are cancelled for Tuesday.
Christmas Eve of 2022 saw burst pipes flood the library with over three centimetres of water.
The flooding sent library staff scrambling to move books and furniture out of the water鈥檚 way.
By Jan. 3, 2023, the library was back open thanks to the city of Penticton鈥檚 facilities department and Total Restoration Services - South Okanagan.
Numerous businesses, homes and apartments are experiencing burst pipes due to freezing temperatures. Residents in an apartment on Atkinson Street had to flee their homes on Monday afternoon when burst pipe on one of the upper floors flooded the building.
Osoyoos Secondary was closed on Monday due to burst pipes flooding the school.
