Calcite Creek wildfire south of Princeton grows to 764 hectares

The Calcite Creek wildfire south of Princeton has led to evacuation alerts for residents in Eastgate and nearby communities on July 18.

The Calcite Creek wildfire continues to burn out of control near the community of Eastgate south of Princeton. 

The fire now stands at over 764 hectares in size as of July 22, according to the BC Wildfire Service. 

Residents of Eastgate and the communities of Placer Lake and the Pasayten Area remain under evacuation alert. 

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen's Emergency Operation Centre has asked any agricultural producers or anyone with grazing lease land to contact the EOC at 250-490-4225.

The BC Wildfire Service has deployed ground crews, heavy equipment, aircrews and structural protection teams to the fire. 

The structural protection teams are working with residents in Eastgate and Bonnevier on protection plans for their properties.
