No injuries were reported after a car was discovered in Skaha Lake on Canada Day off Eastside Road.
There were no occupants at the scene, and it's not known how long the car was in the water. The Okanagan Falls Fire Department was called about the vehicle at around 5:30 a.m.
"We were at a first responder call in the area and the ambulance called us to say they stopped at the car in the lake first," said fire chief Fred Dobransky.
All of the windows were still rolled up, and it is suspected that any occupants had managed to escape through the vehicle's open sunroof.
"We have an imaging camera, we checked everything around the area. And our guys were actually in the water, looked inside the car, there was nobody inside the car," said Dobransky. "So basically, who knows how long that car was sitting in the lake, and no one saw it because it was dark outside."
To keep from getting further calls, the department placed tape around the vehicle to make it clear that it had been checked out by the fire department.
The police and a tow truck were later called to investigate and remove the vehicle from the lake.
It is not currently known how the vehicle ended up in the lake.
This is the second time in about three months that a vehicle has ended up in Skaha Lake after going off Eastside Road.
On April 30, Good Samaritans stopped to help rescue a man after his van ended up in the lake.
