The Columbia Shuswap Invasive Species Society (CSISS) is celebrating a decade of operation in Revelstoke and the surrounding areas.

The society, a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention, management, and reduction of invasive species in the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, hosted an event at Kovach Park in Revelstoke last week to celebrate their 10th anniversary. They brought together long-standing board members, staff, organizers, partners, volunteers, friends and family.

At the event, CSISS presented certificates of appreciation to people and organizations who played roles in shaping the organization鈥檚 success.

Since 2013, the CSISS Outreach Program has hosted more than 800 events, including 73 workshops, training sessions, and presentations, 51 youth education sessions, and 74 community weed pulls. In all, they鈥檝e had approximately 24,872 interactions in their 10 years of operation.

Their field programs have conducted 6,612 invasive plant surveys, surveyed 2,137 sites, mechanically treated 237 sites, collected 739 plankton samples, and sampled 14 water-bodies.

鈥淐SISS is proud of its accomplishments and the dedicated team that has made these achievements possible,鈥 said CSISS in a press release. 鈥淭he organization expresses deep gratitude to all those who have contributed to the CSISS journey. As the year progresses, CSISS invites everyone to join in the ongoing celebration of their 10-year anniversary.鈥
