Charges are being sought against a driver who allegedly fled from police during an attempted traffic stop.
At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, Salmon Arm RCMP located the vehicle, a black Saturn Vue, and were able to stop it in an alleyway off of 5th Street SE to 鈥減revent it from fleeing again,鈥 explained Const. Andrew Hodges in a media release.
鈥淭he 30-year-old female driver was informed she was under arrest for flight from police, but refused to open her door,鈥 said Hodges. 鈥淭he woman then provided a false name and claimed she had no identification.鈥
The woman eventually unlocked her door and was identified by police. Hodges said she was arrested for driving while prohibited and obstructing a peace officer and was issued violation tickets for no insurance, failing to stop for police and operating a vehicle with studded tires during a restricted time. The vehicle was impounded.
While police awaited approval of charges, Hodges said the woman was released 鈥渨ith a future court date to speak to the allegations.鈥
