Erratic driving led to two police traffic stops that resulted in driving prohibitions. 

At 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, patrolling officers on Alexander Street NE saw a grey Honda Odyssey driving erratically. The van was pulled over and the officer noticed the 41-year-old male driver had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, said Salmon Arm RCMP media relations officer Const. Andrew Hodges in a media release. 

An initial breath demand read "fail" and the driver declined his right to a second test.

The driver was prohibited from driving for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for the mandatory minimum 30 days, with the matter referred to RoadSafetyBC.

"The driver was also arrested for being intoxicated in public and held in cells overnight to sober up, and subsequently served a violation ticket for being intoxicated in public in the amount of $115," said Hodges. 

At 10:15 that night, RCMP on patrol along 30th Street NE witnessed a red Toyota Tacoma with its taillights off, drifting left and right.  

Police conducted a traffic stop and noted all the windows on the truck were down, but could still smell alcohol coming from the cab, and a flat of alcoholic beverages in the back seat, said Hodges. 

"The 31-year-old driver produced a valid class 7 N driver鈥檚 licence, and admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the evening." 

 Police conducted a breath demand and obtained two fail readings. The driver was prohibited from driving for 90 days, and his truck was impounded for a mandatory minimum 30 days, with the matter was referred to RoadSafetyBC.
