A dump truck driver was ticketed for no insurance and crossing a double solid line following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1 west of Salmon Arm.

The motor-vehicle incident involving a dump truck and a tractor trailer at the James Road/Trans-Canada Highway intersection was reported to police at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7. Both drivers were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Const. Andrew Hodges in a media release.

Hodges said dash cam video showed the east-bound tractor-trailer following the speed limit when it was approached by the west-bound dump truck which suddenly turned left in front of the tractor-trailer to access a construction site.

鈥淧olice advise that if you are driving a vehicle that you do not own, or do not regularly drive, you as the driver are still responsible to ensure the vehicle has active insurance,鈥 said Hodges.
