UPDATE: 5 p.m.

RCMP are joining 琉璃神社 Fire Department personell who are investigating a suspicious building fire Saturday morning,

At about 9:40 a.m. Saturday, emergency crews received several 911 calls reporting a structure fire on the 4400 block of June Springs Rd.

Platoon Captain Steve Wallick says fire crews arrived to find a fully-involved vacant building.

鈥淪ome fire was spreading to the brush nearby, but fire crews quickly contained the fire to the building and an adjacent sea can (shipping container),鈥 says Wallick.

鈥淭he were no fire hydrants nearby so fire crews relied on a 琉璃神社 Fire Department Water Tender for a water source.鈥

Three fire engines, a water tender, a rescue vehicle, bush truck, safety vehicle and a command unit responded to the scene with 17 personnel.

鈥淭he fire is suspicious and an investigation will be conducted by RCMP along with 琉璃神社 Fire Department investigators,鈥 adds Wallick.
