Emergency services will be unavailable for 31 consecutive hours this weekend at Oliver's hospital.

Interior Health (IH) says the South Okanagan General Hospital's emergency room will be closed from noon on Saturday, Nov. 9, until 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10.

Patients can access care at the Penticton Regional Hospital during this time, IH added.

This weekend's extended closure marks the third service interruption at the South Okanagan General Hospital since the start of November.

All other inpatient services will continue as normal at the hospital, IH said.

"People in the community who need life-threatening emergency care should always call 911 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility," reads a press release.
