Garbage truck catches fire in Penticton

The smoking pile of garbage was doused by firefighters

A garbage truck that caught fire in the South Okanagan Events Centre parking lot had to dump its load, Monday morning. 

The incident was first reported just after 11 a.m. 

Penticton fire crews responded to the scene to douse the smoking pile of garbage. 

No injuries appeared to be reported in the incident. 

As the garbage truck was able to empty its load into the parking lot, no other vehicles or structures were threatened by the fire. 

The garbage will be cleaned up by the city鈥檚 public works team.
