Conservative Party of Canada Leader Pierre Poilievre is coming back to Penticton for the third time in less than a year.

This time he wants to have morning coffee with locals.

Poilievre will be at the Penticton Seniors’ Drop-In Centre on Saturday, March 9. Doors open at 9 a.m. To attend, register with the Conservative Party online.

This will be Poilievre’s third visit in less than 12 months with a visit in July and October 2023.

Around 500 people jammed into an Oliver warehouse last October to hear Poilievre speak.

Among those in the front row was outgoing MLA Dan Ashton, who announced in February that he was running in the next federal election with the Conservatives.

Topics at that rally ranged from crime to the economy.

Defunding the CBC, axing the carbon tax, cutting income tax and other taxes on earning and banning attendance of the World Economic Forum were other perennial Conservative issues that received support. Crime was another big topic, with plans to strip parole and bail opportunities from repeat violent offenders and to cut safe supply while putting more funding into treatment instead.

The latest from Nanos polling as of March 1 has support for the Conservative party at 42.8 per cent.

Liberal support is sitting at 23.3 per cent and NDP at 21.4 percent, according to the Nanos poll.

A federal election isn’t anticipated until fall of 2025.
