Impaired driver flips car near Armstrong

Driver walks away from crash, but not without IRP

The driver of a car that flipped on Highway 97A near Armstrong Feb. 20 walked away from the scene but lost his rights to drive again for awhile.

The single car crash took place at the Harding Road intersection in Spallumcheen around 10:20 a.m.

"The driver of the vehicle had walked away from the scene but was quickly located by police," said Const. Chris Terleski, Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media relations officer. "During their interaction with the man, the investigating officer formed the suspicion his ability to operate the vehicle was impacted by alcohol."

The 21-year-old driver provided a sample of his breath that registered 'Fail' on a roadside screening device.

As a result, he was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and his vehicle impounded for 30 days.
