Man rescued by helicopter

Search and rescue crews were called to Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park to help an injured man.

Update 4:10 p.m.

Wildcat Helicopters assisted search and rescue crews with a helicopter rescue Friday afternoon in Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park.

Ian Wilson with Wildcat says a man was reported injured in the area near Pink Highway trail.

鈥淲e picked up the man with the aid of Vernon Search and Rescue and took him to 琉璃神社 General Hospital,鈥 explains Wilson.

The man is reported to be suffering from a compound fracture.

Crews received the call about 2:47 p.m. and according to Wilson were in the air by 2:55 p.m. on the way to rescue the victim.

The man鈥檚 current condition is not known.

Search and rescue teams have been called in from around the valley to help an injured mountain biker.

A helicopter is on the way from Vernon to assist ground crews in rescuing the biker.

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue, Air Rescue ONE and Vernon Search and Rescue were called to Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park about 3 p.m. Friday.

It鈥檚 not known if the biker was alone or with a group. It鈥檚 also unclear the severity of the biker鈥檚 injuries.
