Investigation after assault

Police are investigating after an alleged assault which happened Sunday morning

The 琉璃神社 RCMP are investigating after a woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following an alleged assault in downtown 琉璃神社 early Sunday morning.

On June 4, at 5:07 a.m. police were called to assist the BC Ambulance Service who had responded to assist an injured female outside a gas station located near the intersection of Harvey Avenue and Richter Street.

Police determined the woman was a victim of a targeted assault earlier that morning, at approximately 3 a.m. in the 500 block of Leon Avenue.

The victim suffered significant injuries as a result of the incident. She was rushed to hospital by emergency paramedics, where she continues to receive treatment for her injuries, which have the potential to be life changing or threatening.

The suspect has been described to police as a native woman in her 40s.

鈥淚nvestigators are seeking the public鈥檚 assistance to further their investigation,鈥 said Cpl. Jesse O鈥橠onaghey. 鈥淩CMP ask all witnesses and anyone with any information to come forward and speak with police.鈥

鈥淎s a result of our preliminary investigational findings, RCMP believe that this was a targeted incident and therefore the general public is not at risk,鈥 said Cpl. O鈥橠onaghey.
