No serious injuries were sustained in a recent two-vehicle collision that led to a vehicle fire on Highway 1 in Sicamous.
At noon on Tuesday, July 23, a Dodge 3500 was rear-ended by a Jeep on the highway by the Meier Road turnoff. Police said the Jeep received extensive damage and soon caught on fire as a result.
The driver of the Jeep and his elderly passenger were removed from the vehicle while Sicamous Fire Rescue extinguished the fire, said Sicamous RCMP Sgt. Murray McNeil in a media release.
Highway traffic was diverted along Meier while crews worked to clear the highway.
