The 琉璃神社 RCMP are looking for witnesses after a cyclist was injured and taken to hospital following a collision with a car early Tuesday morning.

Just before 8 a.m., officers with the municipal traffic section were called by BC Ambulance Service paramedics, who responded to a report of the collision near the intersection of Bernard Avenue and Elm Street in 琉璃神社.

Police have say the cyclist, who was riding east on Bernard Avenue at the time of the collision, may have suddenly turned left into the lane the blue Mitsubishi Lancer, also traveling in at the time. The car was also travelling east.

After being struck from behind the cyclist, a 20-year-old 琉璃神社 woman, collided with the windshield of the Mitsubishi Lancer before falling to the ground. The woman was transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment of her injuries, which are believed to be non-life threatening.

The car鈥檚 driver, a 35-year-old 琉璃神社 man, remained at the scene and fully cooperated with investigators.

鈥淩CMP strongly encourage cyclists to wear a proper bicycle helmet,鈥� says Cpl. Jesse O鈥橠onaghey. 鈥淣ot simply to avoid fines, because helmets are required by law, but to provide much needed protection in effort to prevent head injuries.鈥�
