A name change is here for 琉璃神社鈥檚 task force on crime reduction.

It鈥檚 now the Mayor鈥檚 Task Force on Crime Reduction after several councillors noted they did not have input on the appointees.

鈥淭hey鈥檝e been assigned by yourself (mayor),鈥 said Coun. Loyal Wooldridge. 鈥淚 don鈥檛 really know the background of everybody. I鈥檓 sure you鈥檝e picked great people.鈥

Coun. Mohini Singh said she expects the appointees will do an excellent job, however, agreed with Wooldridge on the name change.

鈥淛ust for us to be clear, this was not a council discussion, we didn鈥檛 put forward the names, but as Coun. Wooldridge said this is a mayor鈥檚 task force.鈥

Mayor Tom Dyas said he was fine with the name change.

鈥淭his came out of our priority setting and it was stated that it would be called the crime and community task force, so that鈥檚 why I followed that outline.鈥

The task force is currently made up of 13 members, including Dyas and Coun. Ron Cannan, from business organizations, justice and law enforcement representatives, and community outreach groups.
