ΑπΑ§ΙρΙη’s β€˜Sprout Mama’ remembered for compassion, simple ingredients and delicious food

ΑπΑ§ΙρΙη’s Sprout Mama was taken from the world too soon.

Laticia Watson, the chef behind the carefully curated menu and tasty food at Sprout Bread in ΑπΑ§ΙρΙη died suddenly in early June, sending shortwaves of sorrow through the community.

She began working at the coffee shop in 2018, and helped the little Sprout shop grow into the popular landmark that it is today.

β€œLaticia has been with us through it all and there was a good reason she was known as the Sprout Mama. She was that soothing voice, non-judgmental ear and calming shoulder when times got rough. If someone was having a bad day you could guarantee they would find their way into the kitchen and be chatting to Laticia before long. Laticia exuded kindness, generosity and a deep compassion for everyone,” said Peter van Boekhout, the owner and head baker at Sprout.

The team at the coffee shop is grieving the loss of their Sprout Mama. Van Boekhout said that members of the public are welcome to come in and pay their respects at any time. A private memorial will be held for Watson’s friends and family.
