A convenience store that burned down on the morning of June 4 in 琉璃神社 is said to be the result of arson, according to police.
Bankhead Convenience Store on Bernard Avenue went up in flames around 5:30a.m., prompting a large emergency crew response, and the destruction of the building.

A man has been arrested for causing the blaze, though he was released from custody the following day, with a first court appearance scheduled for Oct. 9.
Nobody was harmed in the fire.
鈥淭his incident was not random in nature and we do not believe there is risk to other members of the public or businesses from the individual who was arrested,鈥 said Cpl. Michael Gauthier of the 琉璃神社 RCMP. 鈥淎n extensive risk assessment is always conducted before someone is released from custody and appropriate conditions have been put in place.鈥
RCMP are now looking for video evidence from the area at the time, in the areas of Bernard Ave, Burtch Rd and the Parkinson Recreation Centre.
