A man who allegedly attempted to smuggle guns across the border is calling for the arrest of a judge and Crown counsel.
Alex Louie, who has been in custody since his Feb. 1 arrest after being denied bail Feb. 2, stated in Penticton provincial court via video Wednesday 鈥渁 warrant has been issued for the Crown,鈥 asking federal Crown to state their name for the record and telling Judge Greg Koturbash he was 鈥渦nder arrest.鈥
鈥淚 arrest the Crown too,鈥 Louie said.
The 49-year-old man is facing nine charges in connection with an alleged attempt to smuggle handguns across the Canada/U.S. border including two counts of smuggling goods into Canada and two counts of possession of a firearm without a license and/or registration.

Louie did not answer any of Koturbash鈥檚 questions during a hearing slated to elect a mode of trial. Koturbash made two attempts to ask Louie what his preference was while Louie continued to talk through Koturbash鈥檚 instructions. Koturbash concluded a non-response would result in a Supreme Court judge and jury trial.
Louie repeatedly stated he has renounced his Canadian citizenship and questioned Koturbash as 鈥渆xecutor of the trust.鈥 He also cited the 鈥渃ultural genocide of (his) people,鈥 on a 琉璃神社 court file number. The June, 2016 court file points to a driving while prohibited charge Louie was found guilty of and sentenced to 60 days in jail with a two-year driving prohibition.
鈥淚 command this court acquitted. There is no trust relationship. The trust has been severed and registered deceased. For and on public record, witnessed by everyone in this court. Unless you can prove there is a trust relationship, which is already registered deceased, there is no trust relationship,鈥 Louie said.
Louie cited another court file number in Penticton, which online records point to as an application to 鈥渄etermine jurisdiction鈥 filed by Louie, which was denied.
Louie is scheduled to appear in Penticton Supreme Court April 24 to fix a date for a trial.
